Now available: Sprint integration with Google Voice, but not for all.

Well the day has arrived! You can now port your Sprint number to Google Voice or vice versa. Anyone that uses Google Voice knows the how good the service is, if you don't have it or use it, google it for more info. So when Sprint announced that they were integrating with GV I dam near shit my pants! My phone has the GV app and I have the option to call with my sprint number or GV number, and I do have my voice mail set to GV. So whats the deal you ask, who cares. Well the big plus is that I have ONE number not two. Yes I know that I can port to GV for a $20 fee, early termination of my Sprint contract and fees and a three day wait with no service, but to be able to do this at no cost to me in a matter of minuets is major.
So when it went public and I got the e-mail, I could not get to a computer fast enough. I logged in to my GV account went to settings and there it was, the link to integrate my Sprint number......Like a kid at Christmas I clicked the link. A window opened up and said checking for portability, and after a few seconds......an other window opened up and said :Your Sprint number is not eligible for integration at this time. Pleas contact Sprint for further assistance. Or something like that. So after an hour on the phone with Sprint and talking to three different people I found that I can not integrate my number, and this is the reason why:
I have a discounted bill with Sprint. I work in the EMS field and I also am a state employee. So as far as Sprint is concerned, I am a public servant/government worker. The integration is ONLY available for the public sector. This simply put is anyone that is not on a "Business" account. Because I get an Emergency Worker discount I am classified as a "Business Individual" as far as Sprint is concerned. And as of now, Google does not allow business persons to do the Sprint to GV integration.
So now I am disappointed. I had no idea that I was a business, or that Google was not allowing business individuals to partake in this integration. So for now I am sad, and have to keep two numbers and just hope that google will allow me to integrate in the near future.

Facebook, the New Phone?

Well as I said in my broadcast, it looks as though facebook has become the new phone. Discontinue you voice plan and get a tab, or some similar device because there is facebook!
I'm sure you have herd this one "oh you didn't know, I messaged you on facebook" Really! call me old school, but I do carry a device that is capable of sending and receiving voice call and it's called......wait for it....wait for it.....a PHONE!!!! If what you have to tell me is soooooo important, call me. don't facebook me, who knows when I will get that message. Gone are the days of the pay phone and beeper. I remember when you actual had to get coins and go to a pay phone and dial it. No more, again, WE HAVE FACEBOOK!!! THANK GOD!!!
I'm not saying I don't use facebook. I do. I just don't use it as a practical way to communicate with people. If I have something stupid to say or a picture to post, OK.
Keep in mind folks, facebook is a message board, nothing more. But instead of posting to a public thread, it's private. So there is no need to get all worked up when your "friend" doesn't respond to your fb post. Get over it. there are more effective ways to get a message to someone.
Anyway, I do know that most of you are consumed with all the social media. As I said in the past, it's our little clam to fame on the internet. While this won't be a fad or a flash in the pan, I do believe we need to get back to the basics and work on our communication skills as a whole.
